Coming Home!!

Kauri was fortunate enough to make it to the funeral.  They let her go with no bags or anything.  Her PICC line tubes are hidden under her sweater.  Home Heath would come later to hook her up to her dinner.  I think they said they would be bringing her dinner around 5:00.  Our house is gonna be tricky.  She still is getting all nourishment from a tube. Still NO FOOD OR DRINK.  We are going to be learning how to get her what she needs. She isn't up for visitor's yet, she says maybe a day or two. She may feel differently tomorrow even, please just call and check before you decide to come see her. She feels her prayers were answered. We all have felt how much she is loved by us, others, and her Heavenly Father.

We didn't find out until 8:30 or so that they were going to release Kauri.  We were a little scared either way.   Last night she threw up again, and this morning her lipase levels were up higher than ever.  We were worried if they were releasing her early for the funeral, if that would be dangerous to Kauri, yet hoped she could go.  It was pretty hard to wait for their decision.  They probably would have kept her another day or so, but decided to let her go.  When Laura quizzed the Dr. and Nurses, they said they felt good about it, or wouldn't let her go.  Kauri smiled pretty big when she found out she could go home!

All ready to leave...

 Waiting... and waiting... and waiting to be discharged...

 Still waiting....  I think we waited for over an hour.  They asked what time we needed to get going by, and we said 10:45 at the latest, to not feel rushed and to help Kauri feel secure.  She was nervous about the car ride and everything else.

Finally....

Oh wait, still more waiting... Kauri thought this was taking way too long.  But then look at Laura, she did too.  It was 4th time learning about TBI (traumatic brain injury).  They have given her that many pamphlets as well.  It was a little after 11, with the funeral being at 12, we were getting worried.   We guess they figured Laura had the fractures and the pancreatitus down, but needed to learn the tbi better. (maybe because she has some of the symptoms?)
