Helping Kauri feel like Kauri

Quinn and Emily got her some head bands. Annika was ready to put them on Kauri to help her feel more like herself. Annika also has lip gloss Kauri's favorite on hand to make sure Kauri has to wear.

Kauri's helpers

Kauri has many people helping her and visiting her. Here are some of her favorites :)

Kauri loves visitors!

Darcie and Kauri

Darcie is Kauri's newest niece. Savanna had Darcie on the thirteenth of this month. Having Darcie's presence in the room was so amazingly special. She seemed to comfort so many family members especially Kauri.

First time standing up

Kauri getting her x-ray around 1:00 pm today. She stood up and was so brave.

Kauri's Gift

Kauri's niece brought her favorite doll with her favorite dress to make Kauri feel better =)

:)

Pancreatitis

Kauri has pancreatitis. They are going to be giving her some medicine and calories and nutrients that she needs through her iv for tonigh. Tomorrow she will be on a feeding tube. More updates to come.

More information on the internal injuries

Going in for a nose tube.

Mom and Quinn got to come in for the proceedure.

They stuck this tube up my nose, and watched it go to my stomach through the X-ray.

There's the tube - in my tummy.

Going back to the room.  Quinn was great to help out, and spend time with me and Mom.

Lipase levels are up. She is on watch with her internal things. She hasn't been able to keep food down, so they are watching things with her pancreas. With most of the pain on left side.  Pancreas could be affected.  Lots of nausea and vomiting.

Kauri walked to the bathroom

Kauri just walked herself to the bathroom!! Good sign :)
She is such a trooper and VERY independent.

Kauri's update

First, we want to thank everyone for your prayers and your thoughts. They are felt and very appreciated. Kauri is going to spend her second night at Primary Children's. She is pretty sore and hurting-which is understandable. They found a few bruises and scratches, mainly on her back. She has a broken wrist and a compression fracture in her lower back. We are waiting to hear what internal injuries she has sustained. Kauri has not been very concerned about any of her injuries but is constantly asking about her friends and how they are doing. She is especially concerned about Lars, his family, and the Hanson family. She has been beside herself trying to comprehend the loss of one of her best friends. We hope that Kauri's example of strength and courage shows her love and support for all who have been affected by this tragic event. Our hearts and prayers go out to all the kids and their families. Know that Kauri and her family love you!

In the emergency room, taking out her contact.

In her room.

It was so hard on all of us to see her just laying there.

They couldn't get Annika to leave the hospital.   We just kept her there, and the nurses said they would pretend they didn't know she was there.  Mom wasn't about to leave, so we slept on a tiny couch bed.

The morning after.

Waiting, and worrying.

Kauri is so sick.  She throws up a lot.

Quinn could get Kauri to eat a little...

But it didn't last long, before it all came back up.

Beautiful flowers brought to Kauri

Big Brother by her side...

For those who don't know Kauri was in a tragic car accident, Saturday, the 30th of July.  The kids had just ended a wonderful 3 day Youth Conference, and were planning to have a pool party at the home of one of our neighbors.  After a quick trip to Harmons, they ended up less than 2 miles away, on a dirt road, in a car accident.  Kauri was one of the two that was life flighted.  Her friend Lars, was life flighted to McKay Dee in Ogden, and Kauri was life flighted to Primary Children's hospital.  One of her best friends in the world, was taken back to live with Heavenly Father.  Kauri had a wonderful opportunity to have him tell her "Good Bye" after he was gone from this earth.  That is the very first thing she told her mom when she saw her.  Little blessings, amid such heart ache.

There's been an accident...

Annika has her story to write here, but because of her love for Kauri and awareness and listening to the Spirit, even though we didn't find out about the accident until 1 1/2 hours after all the other parents, thanks to Annika, we found out that soon.  She was driven to search for her, until someone listened to her and helped her get to the site, where they had sent Kauri off on life flight, with an unknown name.  So because no one identified her, she flew off as ZZZPCMCRomeTowel (we need to go to Rome to get a towel, to give us a reason for this name!)
Annika got to the site, thanks to a very special person, Stacey Remmington, who took her there, where the police were so glad to have someone identify her -- her sister.  So as she filled out the paperwork of who she was, Stacey called Mom and Dad.  We all drove up to the house as the police drove up to tell us.

Kauri was on this gurney.

Lars was on this gurney.
